Introduction: My first blog post

Hello!
My name is Mariah, and I am a budding Instructional Designer. I live in Dallas, Texas with the future aim of returning to my home state of Mississippi (I miss those magnolia trees.) I have a calico cat that stares at me all day, and a few nieces and nephews.
I decided to follow the path of instructional design when I was preparing for an interview to work at a school as a first-time teacher. I quickly realized what I wanted to do was design content and not teach. I also realized that I wanted to work with adults and not children around the same time. It was an exciting feeling to finally realize where I belong, and I am so happy to be working towards my dream. This blog is a digital portfolio so you all can get to know me and my work.
I have a passion for learning and teaching adult learners. Two quotes, often attributed to the wise Socrates, resonate with my educational philosophy:
True wisdom comes to each of us when we realize how little we understand about life, ourselves, and the world around us
The unexamined life is not worth living.
These quotes are what I leave by and what guide my professional life. I want to learn for the rest of my life. I don't believe there is ever a time you will know everything. How can that even be possible when new information and knowledge are released every day? I know the best me if I search for what can improve me and my work.
I am excited about this new blog and where it will take me (hopefully to get a new job). Your thoughts matter, so feel free to leave a comment with questions or just to chat.
Thanks for joining me on this journey!
